Water is a mirror, a malleable reflector of light, pattern, and shape. Our eyes become pulled in to the kaleidoscopic, pulsing, and brush stroke patterns on its surface as they emerge and vanish, only to reform again - changed infinitely - like thoughts in our minds. Water is a medium for vital human life and experience. It weaves and flows through our lives seen and unseen, but it is the visual aspect of water that brings us calm through ever changing form and color.
I am currently putting together a preview show of some chttp://www.collectivecopies.comreative work . Please come join me for my first show!
I am a water person. I appreciate being near it, to watch its ever changing qualities and to receive its relaxing benefits. I appreciate hearing it softly interact with the landscape, meeting the shore, receiving rain. As a photographer, I am interested in the colors, patterns and shapes of water as they materialize and dissipate. I've begun to investigate this in a series called Water Palette which includes a variety of themes - shapes, styles, strokes, scenes.
Water Glass, the title image of the show was the first image to begin this broad series. While on an early morning exploration near my backcountry campsite in Algonquin Park, Ontario I explored along the Petawawa River. This reflection caught my eye and I began to photograph it, enthralled by the pattern I found. I spent a long time greeting the morning and playing with this until I thought perhaps my friends were looking for me and I should return to the campsite for breakfast. What could be more lovely than wilderness paddling, photography, and quiet early mornings!
Work on this series is ongoing and I look forward to sharing new images in the future.
